Stockley Gardens Spring Arts Festival

Norfolk, VA

May 18th- 19th

Stockley Gardens Arts Festival has been voted one of the top two Arts Festivals in Eastern Virginia by Virginia Living Magazine. I am glad to be back after missing the fall show last year. I will be in my usual booth space B-47.

I was recently asked to judge the Student work for the Annual Visual and Performing Arts Academy’s Juried Art Show at Virginia MOCA.

This was an honor and I did not realize quite how much work goes into the narrowing down and selecting of works to not only be displayed at a show but to be selected for Awards. The show’s opening reception is Wed April 17th at 5:30 pm but the work will be displayed until April 28th.

FLEMING GALLERY

The Annual Visual and Performing Arts Academy Juried Art Show is an exhibition of student work, juried by local artists and art professionals. This competitive show celebrates a large body of current VPAA talent, including awards for exceptional artworks in the categories of 2-Dimensional, 3-Dimensional and Digital Media. This show began in 2005 and has been exhibited at Virginia MOCA each year since 2005. As both the Museum and the Academy at Salem High School have grown, we have remained close Partners in Education supporting the ability of young artists in our community.

ABOUT THE ACADEMY

The Visual and Performing Arts Academy at Salem High School offers students an in-depth exposure to the Arts through a rigorous, challenging curriculum. This environment provides the skills necessary for success in higher education and the workplace through a comprehensive, hands-on focus in each course of study.
